Joint statement from the Minister for Environment Lily D’Ambrosio and Minister for Agriculture Jaala Pulford, November 17: DELWP has confirmed that no harvesting occurred in protected areas in the coupes referred to by the ABC. The use of different mapping technology can be difficult to understand and confusing to the public. That’s why a re-elected Labor Government will support the gazetting of more detailed spacial data maps for any future allocation orders. Victorians deserve to have confidence in the operations and conduct of the state’s timber harvesting regulator – including that when a breach of the regulatory framework occurs it will be competently and thoroughly investigated and prosecuted. That’s why the Government ordered an independent review of timber harvesting regulation – the terms of which were made public to ensure the process is open and transparent. A re-elected Labor Government will publicly release the recommendations.
