Chicago is a city with little to no transparency run hy people who don't want us to have see what they are doing so
they aren't held accountable. Nowhere is this more true than our police depanment,

Supt, Johnson was the insidet's so there would he no actual relorm alter the Laquan McDonald tragedy was
uncovered, Action was taken. hut Mayor Emanuel wanted to he sure that action had absolutely no consequence, So
I would disagtee that Mayor Emanuel ever had a police relorm project. other than in name only. We knew this the
minute he rejected the recommendations tram a nationwide search and chose an insider,

We were aware ol Johnson's history and reputation as a cop who protected other cops. The evidence was clear. so
the only surprise here would he "Johnson ever did act In the Interest ot the public rather than poltce oflicers who
have done anything from make a poor decision to act In an outright criminal manner.

Any new mayor, would hope. will undertake a structural reform of the depanment, including the top job. We should
have a real search for a new police leader that emphasizes community engagement, a culture ol honor and
transparency. and ensures our good aflioers are free to reach the true levels at excellence they can achieve without
heing held hack hy the tew who don't value the critical tmponance of their role In our city.

Regardless of what happens with the election, should Eddie Johnson remain superintendent?
