Samples designated No. 1 through 7 These are samples of vermont production talc (Windsor 66), which is used in the manufacture of JOHNSON1S* Baby Powder. These talcs were obtained from the retained reference sample storage of our Quality Assurance DiviBion at our Eastern Surgical Dressings Plant. • A referenc~ sample is retained from each shipment of talc received at E.S.D.P. The sampling procedure is as follows: The talc is received in 20 ton lots in stainless steel tank trucks. An air line is connected t o ' the egress port of the tank and air is pumped in to loosen and fluidize the talc bed. A special sampling valve is then opened and .aboutl lb. of the talc drawn off for test. e. If accepted, the 20 ton lot of talc is pneu~atic­ ally conv~yed to a storage silo and subsequently used in production. The 1 lb. talc sample is given an identifying code number and is retained for a.minimum of 2 years . . Each container of JOHNSON'S* Baby Powder is coded to designate location, date and shift of manufacture. Our Quality Assurance Division takes a sampling at random from the production line during each shift. This becomes the retained reference sample, and is held in storage at R.T. for a minimum of 2 y~ars. The follow~ng retained samples were recently obtained from Qua~ity Assurance and submitted for test. The samples were made using vermont (Windsor 66) talc on hand in our storage silos at that 'time.
