?fou probably know. I have been a Republican since my second
year at UW law School when ljoined the Young Republicans. I
have held appointed positions under Republican lGovernors
Knowles. Dreyfus. Thompson. and Iv'IcCaIIum and appointive
positions in Washington under Presidents Nixon. Ford and
Carter.

I am not proud to read in the Milwaukee newspapers and learn
the conniving that Wisconsin Republicans. led by you and
certain others. are planning.

I should also add thatl voted for you when you ran for County
Executive and three times when you ran for Governor, but not
the last time when you lost to Tony Evers. Ifyou are aslting why
I changed. I must say I didn't. you did. You let your presidential
political ambitions supersede your duties and obligations to the
people of Wisconsin. This was too much for me.

I ask you not to destroy your reputation and side with Messrs.
vos a Fitzgerald. What they are planning for the Republican
Party of Wisconsin will malign its integrity and lead to its
downfall. Worse. it will damage Wisconsin as it ignores the will
of the majority of Wisconsin voters.

You can have a long successful career ahead. Don?t stain it by
this pointless. poor-loser action.. Ask yourself. what would my
father say. what would the greatest man who ever lived. jes us
Christ. say.

As your friend. I asl: you to do what you know is right and don't
go along with the politicians who wrongly believe their short-
sighted machinations to retain personal power will be accepted
by the voters of Wisconsin. You are much better than that.
