On December 6, 2018, Dr. Henderson Lewis, Superintendent and the team came
to meet with the Craig?s team to discuss Joseph A. Craig?s letter grade of an First and
foremost, the Craig team emphasized that the unacceptable letter grade does not define the
hard-working staff and students. The discussion focused on the reason(s) for the
unacceptable letter grade and the indication of implemented practices for the purpose of
increasing student outcomes. Test scores and poverty are intertwined, a fact that should
always be considered in high poverty schools such as Joseph A. Craig. Rothstein (2008) states
that it?s no cop?out to acknowledge the effects of socioeconomic disparities on student
learning. Rather, it is a vital step to closing the achievement gap.

Also, this venue gave the Craig?s team an opportunity to discuss the much-needed over?
sight of the foundering One-App Program. Many examples of unfair treatment were cited.

Clearly, there are many things that the Craig team have implemented that will yield
success. Listed below are things that are being implemented:

a A New Curriculum Wit and Wisdom is a K-8 English curriculum that brings rich
knowledge.

0 Eureka Math a digital assessment and practice tool that equips the teachers with a
strong database designed help teachers track student progress and identify areas of
need.

I iReady? an interactive online learning environment designed to assess students and
provide individualized instruction based on each one?s unique needs.

0 Targeted home-learning.
