CA 90026 Dear Mr. Flecha. I want to thank you for sharing the concerns of our principals and administrators. The safety and wellbeing of our students. families and employees is our t0p priority and we are working around the clock to provide our principals and schools with as much support as possible. We know we are asking a lot from our principals and staff during this challenging time. We are all deeply grateful for their leadership and commitment to the students. families. and the communities Los Angeles Uni?ed serves. Extra duty pay will be provided for administrators for the additional hours working during the strike. Students and families are counting on our schools to stay open. Our schools and employees provide students with a shelter from the rain. a safe space and a warm meal. For many of our foster and homeless students, our schools provide students with the only constant in their lives. We continue to monitor developments and incidents at our schools. The Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff 5 Department and the Los Angeles School Police are all providing support to keep our schools safe. While there are signi?cant challenges. there has not been an incident that would require us to close all schools and leave hundreds of thousands of students and families without the option of going to school. If incidents do occur. our Operations Center and Local Districts are ready to respond and provide additional support. Contract negotiations resumed today as UTLA returned to the negotiating table. Los Angeles Unified is willing to work around the clock to find a solution to get this resolved. We thank our principals and will do everything we can to support the employees at our schools during this challenging time. Sincerely, Austin Beutner
