Dear Senators Stedman, Von Imhof, and Shower,

I would like to take this opportunity to provide the Committees with additional information and
clarification regarding my previous business interests, work history and recent Senate testimony.

In 201 1, I verbally entered into an equity-stake business venture with the Reynolds family of
Puyallup, WA. Together, my business partner Bryan Reynolds, his family and I rebranded an
existing franchise into a new business with an additional location and created another new
business with one location known then and today as Anthem Coffee Tea and Elements
Frozen Yogurt.

As the businesses grew, it became clear that the verbal agreement I entered into was not going to
materialize into a written agreement. After numerous negotiations with the Reynolds family and
much heartache for me and my family, we parted ways.

During my Senate con?rmation hearing on January 23, 2019, I was asked in detail to discuss my
relationship with Anthem Coffee Tea and Elements Frozen Yogurt. After reviewing the
testimony, I would like to take the Opportunity to clarify a few of my statements:

- In response to questions, I incorrectly stated that my association with the Anthem Coffee
Tea and Elements Frozen Yogurt ended in 2014 when in fact it ended in 2012.
- In response to questions, I accepted the terminology used by Senator Wielechowski when

I should have clari?ed that I parted ways with the company, rather than selling an
ownership stake.

I sincerely apologize for stating this incorrect information and thank you for the opportunity to
respond. Like many business owners and entrepreneurs, I?ve had great success and faced certain
failure. Each experience has taught me great lessons, and collectively they have made me a better
person, husband and manager.
