From: Subject: Date: Attachments: Mazzei, Kelly A (DOR) Monthly Marijuana Excise Tax Data - December 2018 Saturday, February 2, 2019 2:14:31 PM image001.png image002.png image003.png For the December 2018 tax period, the State of Alaska, Department of Revenue, collected approximately $1.5 million in marijuana excise taxes. In December, 121 licensed cultivators sold or transferred 1,558 lbs. of flower and 1,030 lbs. of trim to either retail stores or product manufacturers. This brings the total tax liability to over $22 million since the program started in October 2016, and almost $10 million six months into this fiscal year. Preliminary estimates for January look to be around $1.7 million   The state acquired seven new taxpayers in December – two in Anchorage, three in Fairbanks, and one each in Homer and Ninilchik – bringing the total number of licensed cultivators (taxpayers) to 152. Of the 152 taxpayers, 21 didn’t have any taxable transactions in December, and 10 are no longer in business.   Tax payments continue to be made in cash, checks, money orders, cashier’s checks, and wire transfers. In December, 73% of the payments were made in cash, which is about average.   By region, Anchorage and Fairbanks have had the most taxable transactions, and the Mat-Su is holding steady with the highest number of taxpayers.   There are some graphics below to support the above data.
