Dr. Bass is a clinical associate professor of surgery,
responsible for training medical students, pediatric surgery
residents and fellows in the Jacobs School of Medicine and
Biomedical Sciences at UB. The leadership of the Jacobs
School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences has complete
confidence in Dr. Bass’s pediatric surgical skills, as well as
her ability to effectively teach and supervise medical
students and pediatric surgery residents and fellows.

“Since 2014, under new leadership, UB has expanded the
number of faculty in the pediatric surgery program from
two to five. Recruitment for one additional position is
underway. The pediatric surgery fellowship program is
thriving under the supervision of the pediatric surgery
team. Dr. Kathryn Bass has led a successful effort to have
the Oishei Children's Hospital designated as a Level 3
pediatric trauma center that further enriches the
educational opportunities. The Jacobs School of Medicine
