Subject: City of Cincinnati 2018 Audit Results

 

On March 13, 2019, the Ohio State Auditor released the City of Cincinnati?s 2018 financial audit, single
audit report, and the Auditor?s management letter. Those documents are attached.

The City is extremely proud of having again secured a clean unmodified opinion from the Ohio State
Auditor. The State Auditor issued an opinion regarding the financial statements that they ?present fairly,
in all material respects, the respective financial position of the governmental activities, the business?type
activities, each major fund, and the aggregate remaining fund information of City of Cincinnati, Hamilton
County, Ohio, as ofJune 30, 2018, and the respective changes in financial position and, where applicable
cash flows, thereof for the year then ended in accordance with the accounting principles generally
accepted in the United States of America.?

The management letter includes comments regarding the City?s compliance with applicable laws,
regulations, grant agreements, contract provisions, and internal control. Those comments represent
matters that require improvements to operational efficiencies or compliance with internal controls.

The Finance Department will coordinate with impacted departments to provide written resoonses to the
Auditor?s management letter comments. Those responses and all FY 2018 audit documents will be
presented to City Council and referred to the Budget and Finance Committee.

Congratulations and thanks to the employees of the Finance Department for their continued diligent
work providing sound financial practices and management for the City.
