Recommendation Letter for Lt. Jason Etzler for Permanent Chief of Police Position

To: Taneytown Mayor and City Council
We would like recommend Lt. Jason Etzler for the permanent Chief of Police Position. We feel
that Lt. Etzler would be an exceptional Chief of Police for the Taneytown Police Department.
There has been newspaper articles reporting that an anonymous letter characterized Lt. Etzler
as ruling by fear. We believe that Lt. Etzler was unfairly blamed as being a part of Ex-Chief of
Police William Tyler's actions and poor leadership.
In closing, We have the utmost confidence in Lt. Etzler's ability as an police administrator. We
believe Lt. Etzler is the right person for the permanent Chief of Police position and he will be
able to lead the department effectively to serve and protect the citizens of the City of
Taneytown.
