Humbach County Attorney 1 1 New Hempstead Road New City, New York 10956 Re: Parking for Village of Airmont Election Dear Mr. Humbach: This is in reSponse to your letter of today?s date regarding parking for today?s scheduled Village of Airmont election at Ramapo Town Hall. The allegation that the parking lot at Town Hall is ?entirely or nearly entirely blocked off" to voters is both patently false and absurd. In fact, in anticipation of today?s voter turnout, the Chief of Police made numerous modi?cations to the normal parking situation at Town Hall. These modi?cations were designed to ensure parking spaces for all voters while at the same time ensuring that the normal business of Town government proceeded. In fact, police vehicles which normally park in the Town Hall lot, were relocated off-site in order to create additional voter parking. Additionally, employees, who normally park in front of Town Hall, were directed to the rear of the lot as well as to spots usually occupied by police vehicles. Further, the lot was cordoned in order to preserve ample parking for voters, including handicap parking spaces. Contrary to the claims in your letter, the Town has, in fact, made appropriate and more than adequate preparations for election parking while at the same time preserving parking for employees and others who come to Town Hall to conduct the business of government. Finally, it has come to my attention that, contrary to your assertion, your letter was not sent on behalf of the County Board of Elections as a whole. In fact, it is my understanding that Commissioner Zebrowki is not in agreement with the sentiments expressed. I can only conclude that your allegations are based on partisan politics, since they are certamly not based on fact. Surely, such baseless allegations and threats have more than the ?appearance of impropriety? and I would urge you to be in full possession of relevant facts in ?iture communications. Very truly yours. yW?? 'Wc? . Michael B. Specht Supervisor cc: County of Rockland, Board of Elections Ramapo Town Attorney
