Statement from Head Coach George Maxwell:

Skin check with of?cial (Alan Maloney) started at approx 545cm

Drew Johnson was told he needed to shave

He immediately went to locker room to shave his face

The of?cial then ask where he went because he had concerns about Drew?s hair.
Upon Drew?s return the of?cial told him needed a cap for his hair.

Drew said he had one in the locker room.

By now it was close to match time and
The of?cial went over rule changes then left the wrestling room.

The second match of the night was 120 and we had even bouts and sent Drew on the mat.

While about to shake hands with opponent the of?cial inspected the cap on Drew and deemed it unacceptable.
i approached the of?cial and asked him to reconsider and let him use the cap.

He said no.

i said he was allowed to wrestle the previous week without it.

He said it didn?t matter and was probably an oversight in an opening week tourney.

Then i asked him what our options were. And he said he couldn't wrestle with the dredlocks or without the sanctioned

Then i heard Drew say ?out it"
The trainer was then waved over and she cut them off while injury time was running.

When his hair was deemed acceptable. Drew put his headgear on and wrestled.

Statement from Assistant Wrestling Coach Brett Aretz:

At the beginning of Drew's bout Wednesday the ref would not allow him to use his hair cover because by rules it must be
connected to his head gear. That left Drew with two options, cut his hair matside while injury time clock was running or
forfeit the bout Drew said i?m gonna cry but cut it off. We motioned to the trainer and she came over and cut his hair
within the 'i 1.12 minutes allotted for injury time. - Brett Aretz Asst. Wrestling Coach
