To the Newly Elected Members of the , Membership in the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) has made us and the other in more effective legislators for our constituents. To develop real solutions, and provide economic security to our constituents, we have turned to ALEC. ALEC brings together industry and legislative leaders from across the states to talk about the most pressing issues facing their states, and the innovative policy solutions they have used to solve these issues. ALEC hosts events and meetings for its members throughout the year to engage with policy and increase legislative cooperation – like the upcoming States and Nation Policy Summit being held in Washington, D.C. on November 28-30, 2018. Quorum, an independent data analytics firm, tracked the cooperation of ALEC legislators and found us to be 2.7 times as effective as our non-member counterparts. We have been provided unparalleled opportunities to network with your fellow legislators and stakeholders from across the states, share effective policies and learn what works and what doesn’t work from other states. ALEC also provides other resources to its members, including hearing testimony, issue briefings, on call policy analysis and media placement in or nationally. The policies advanced at ALEC are those the members choose to champion. With ALEC, we have led the charge on issues that matter to our communities. We eliminated the state and local tax deduction (SALT) and have been instrumental against calls to implement taxation without representation with online sales taxes. The National Conference of State Legislatures opposed both of these tax reductions. We know you have choices as a newly elected member of the state .
