Here are all the questions I mentioned during our conversation. I would ask that you send us information on a rolling basis because we are actively working on getting this out. As a gentle reminder, our deadline is Friday night. 1. The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District told us it’s opened an investigation into the odor emissions at PSFA. Could the university offer a comment on this investigation and let us know who specifically has been interviewed by the APCD? 1 of 4 3/29/19, 10:43 PM F\\d The Ddll) PSFA Qucstlun) The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District has contacted SDSU With questions about the PSFA Building repair We received a Notice of Violation today March 29, and are responding to the APCD and providing the needed information as part of the investigation As this is an active investigation, no additional information can be provided at this time. Zen 3 You emailed me that the air monitoring report has not been finalized Does that mean SDSU has been citing the non-toxic designation from an incomplete and unfinished report? We do not expect a report from Millennium until after all sampling is completed and analyzed, but all air-quality measurements and indicators that have been monitored by EHS experts since January as well as preliminary results from Millenium Consulting. show low-level concentration of roofing material indicators such as volatile organic vapors (VOC), Per the safety data sheet for the roofing material there is no known toxicity to acute exposure The final report will be submitted by the environmental consultant, Millennium Consulting Associates once the ongoing monitoring is completed. 4 What is the purpose of filing an "incident only" report itthe reported did not result in medical treatment7 And have the number of those reports increased since you gave me the figure of 227 The purpose of filing an "incident only" report is to alert the Center for Human Resources about any illnesses or injuries sustained by University employees, and employees may choose to complete this report even if the incident did not rise to a level that necessitates medical treatment. The employee may choose not to initiate a workers' compensation claim based on the nature of the reported illness or injury, however torthose who then choose to pursue a workers' compensation claim, it is important to have all of the details 3/29/l9. 10.43 PM Fwd: The Daily Aztec/inewsource: PSFA Questions related to the initial incident on file. The number of incident-only reports received to date remains at 22. 5. Also, why did SDSU decide to hold an open forum during the week of spring break, when (presumably) most of the students and faculty affected are gone? We discussed this by phone. But I would like to emphasize that the university is hosting two forums -- on April 3 and April 8. Both forums will be recorded and the links to the recordings will be posted so that students, faculty and staff may have access to the information shared. Additional details are available online: http://urgent.sdsu.edu/ (we are continuing to keep this site updated). 6. We are hearing mixed reports of resignations due to this issue. Can you confirm or deny that anyone within SDSU has resigned or been terminated as a result of the school’s handling of this situation? No, no SDSU employees have resigned nor been terminated as a result of the PSFA Building’s temporary closure. And you asked an additional question in a separate email about the data sheets and the air monitoring report. As monitoring is ongoing through this week, the report therefore remains in draft form. However, the statements above remain true and reflect the results of all air-quality sampling and testing done to-date. Regarding, the second question, SDSU did not make the designation that the materials are not toxic; that information is included in the safety data sheets for the materials used. The report itself will also contain a full analysis. We do know from testing, however, that the PSFA had within-range, low-level amounts of vapor levels and that those levels were not toxic. The data sheets are attached. -Bella Ross 3 of 4 3/29/19, 10:43 PM Fwd: The Daily Aztec/inewsource: PSFA Questions News Editor Office: (619) 594-7781 Mobile: (602) 696-2029 Attachments: SDS roofing material, 350715_805_U.pdf SDS roofing material, 036STSM601_U.pdf 4 of 4 218 KB 174 KB 3/29/19, 10:43 PM
