From: Wyatt Schroeder To: Maureen Brewer Subject: Organizing To Defeat HB217 Sent: Tue, 12 Mar 2019 22:17:44 +0000 Hello Continuum of Care members and homelessness advocates, I wanted to follow up on a conversation we had at the Continuum of Care Executive Committee about a bill at the Idaho legislature that?s concerning me. HB 217 passed through the House last week and is headed to the Senate. The City of Boise is strongly opposed to this bill. And I ask you to consider using your vote to defeat this bill. This bill would force any public facility that receives $1 in urban renewal funding to come to a vote. (head the hill hy elioking here) That cripples our efforts to end homelessness and build affordable housing in communities across the state. For instance, New Path Community Housing and Valor Pointe, under this bill, would need to come to a public vote and pass before we could house those vulnerable populations. This could pit community members against each other arguing, unconstructively, if an affordable housing project should go through. We already have too many examples of community members coming together to overcome the development of housing. Will you reach out to the Senators in Boise to ask them to vote ?no? on this bill? And to encourage their other Senators to vote Grant Burgoyne: aryahhe Jordan: hiiordan @senateidaho. gov ianie Wardmfingelking: Ch erie Buehn e?rm ehh: ohuekn erwehh?senateidaho gov Thank you for organizing and helping, everyone.
