Re: Following up on voicemail Subject: Re: Following up on voicemail From: Brad Racino Date: 4/7/19, 8:21 PM To: "Magit, Anthony" Thank you Dr. Magit. I'll be writing about this audit and the FDA warning letter that prompted it as part of an ongoing series exploring issues in human research both here and across the US. If you could make the time, I'd like to learn more about your role and how the HRPP functions at UCSD, using this case as an example. Also, I'd like to hear your perspective on the current limitations to curbing research misconduct. I understand this is a very complicated topic and I'd like to make sure I'm representing things as fairly as possible. Thank you again for your response and I hope we can talk soon. -Brad Magit, Anthony April 7, 2019 at 4:13 PM Brad, This is the only researcher specific audit conducted by AMAS that I am aware of in recent years. You are listed as the Director, Human Research Protection Program in the Feb. 1, 2017 UCSD Ophthalmology Human Subjects Research Compliance Report 2017-48. I am trying to determine whether this is the only UCSD audit in recent years specific to one researcher undertaking human subject research. The only other human research related report I've found on that site -https://auditreports.ucop.edu/?action=public_search -- is the Human Research Protections Program (HRPP) Report 2017-21, and that relates more to systems and processes. Can you let me know, or direct me to someone who would know? I want to make sure I'm not missing something. I appreciate your help. -Brad -BRAD RACINO Senior Reporter & Assistant Director inewsource.org c.
