Dear Ralph:
Thank you very much for the Bullets tickets as well as the
canister of fine nuts which you sent to the office. I don't know
whether the latter gift was meant as a commentary on our staff,
but we were pleased to receive them in any event.
This year was a tough one for tobacco, but it could not have
ended better: with Henry Waxman and Joycelyn Elders losing their
posts within a couple months of each other! I'm sure the battles
are not over, but at least the terrain is much more favorable.
I look forward to seeing you in the new year. Thanks again
for your kindness and best wishes for a merry Christmas!
