Border Patrol Deiartment oflnterior Future Planning Document The Department of lomeland Security?s (DllS) United States Border Patrol (USBP) conducts daily border security operations in Federal public lands that fall ttnder the oversight of the Department of Interior 'l?hese lands include. but are not limited to. National Parks. National Monuments, Wildlife Refuges. and National Recreational Areas that are located across the southern border. The sectors with border zones in these public lands routinely conductjoint operations with the respective DOI Law Enforcement Of?cers (Ll-20s) to prevent. detect. and resolve cross border tral?lie. These actions not only serve to protect the American people from terrorists and transnational criminal organizations. but also protect these Federal lands and the natural and cultural resources from damages caused by cross border traf?c. in response to the President's order to eliminate illegal border crossings. assist the increase levels on federally managed lands along the southern border. and reduce cross border crime the will be sending additional of?cers to increase their law enforcement presence in these Federal lands during high surge times. - The areas that will receive these additional of?cers. at the request of USBP. will be the Coordination between USBP and DUI will? no. and war will? . will contintte to perform normal patrol operations within l?ederal managed lands while closely tracking and rcponing cross border traf?c patterns. arrests. and seizures to nearby l?SBl? stations.
