Dear MCUSD Family,

On April 16, 2019 the MCUSD School Board received information that Superintendent Hopper
was arrested for a DUI on April 14th. Superintendent Hopper was not on district business when
she was arrested. Board President called for a Special Board meeting and closed
session to be held on Thursday, April 18th to address the situation.

Superintendent Hopper had previously tendered her resignation effective June 30, 2019 and the
Board has already begun the search for a new Superintendent.

During closed session the MCUSD Governing Board took action to place Superintendent Robin
Hopper on paid administrative leave through her resignation effective date of June 30, 2019.

During closed session the Governing Board took action to appoint Jeff Aranguena as the Interim
Superintendent.

The MCUSD School Board wants to make sure parents and community know the education of our
students is always our number one concern and any decisions made are in the best interest of the
students. The Board is honored to be surrounded by a very strong Leadership team and are
confident we will finish the school year with a focus on academic achievement and student well-
being. We as a community are fortunate to have committed teachers and staff who will continue
to do an amazing job educating our students.
