METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 May 2, 2019 Homicide: 3300 Block of D Street, Southeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, in the 3300 block of D Street, Southeast. At approximately 9:52 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, suffering from a gunshot wound. While canvasing the area, officers located a second adult male victim who was unconscious suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and transported the first victim to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The second victim displayed no signs consistent with life and remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The decedent has not yet been identified. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
