Energy, Environment and Agriculture Task Force February 15, 2019 Dear EEA Task Force Members, I hope you all have had a good first month of 2019 state legislative sessions! If you are working on interesting policy issues, I would love to hear from you about it. Similarly, if there are ALEC model policies or resolutions that you are working in your state, let me know! To start off 2019, I have an announcement about our Task Force Leadership. Task Force Chairs Task Force Director: Grant Kidwell Mark Your Calendars Tech Policy Exchange Conference Call Series Our new Public Sector Co-Chair will be Representative Mike Kuglitsch from Wisconsin. I imagine many of you already know representative Kuglitsch, but if you don’t, here is the link to his biography on the Wisconsin legislature website. Representative Kuglitsch has been a dedicated member of ALEC and the task force for several years and we appreciate him taking on this leadership role. Jennifer Jura of the Edison Electric Institute will continue as our Private Sector Co-Chair and we appreciate her leadership. Tech Policy Exchange Conference Calls will occur bi-monthly in 2019 on the following dates: - April 9 at 11 AM EST - June 11 at 11 AM EST - August 14 *Time TBD* For more information, contact Bartlett Cleland ALEC-Heritage Foundation Pension Conference Call in March The task force will have a conference call in March featuring an update on federal policy coming from Washington as well Reform Working Group as a chance to hear from other members about policies working in their states. Morning Consult House Agriculture Committee Members Announced for 116th Congress “The roster for the 116th Congress’ House Agriculture Committee has been announced by Chairman Collin Peterson (D-MN) and Ranking Member K. Michael Conaway (R-TX). The roster includes 15 newcomers to the committee, with 13 being freshmen Representatives.” AgWeb 46th ALEC Annual Meeting Austin, TX August 14-16, 2019 Policies in the States Critical Infrastructure The frigid temperatures brought by the polar vortex this week serve as a reminder of the important of energy infrastructure. Without the pipe 2019 States and Nation Policy Summit and electric lines that heat and power our homes, these temperatures would be unbearable. Thankfully, states have recognized the Scottsdale, AZ December 4-6, 2019 important of critical infrastructure and are moving to protect it. Illinois H.B.1633, Indiana S.B.0471, Mississippi S.B. 293 and H.B. 1336, Wyoming H.B.0010 are all policies similar to ALEC’s Critical Infrastructure Protection Act model policy.
