Twitter, Inc. 13.55 ivlarket St #900 San Francisco, CA 94103 April 29, 2019 Dear Senator Menedez, Thank you for your letter and for sharing your concerns about the online dissemination of gun printing materials. We appreciate the opportunity to share more about our policies and our work to enforce them. The safety of our users is a top priority for Twitter. In May, we announced an initiative to increase the health of our platform. As part of this work, we are exploring ways to utilize technology to curb abusive and content that violates our policies and terms of service. Twitter has a longstanding policy that ?prohibits the promotion of weapons and weapons accessories globally.? To that end, the promotion of blueprints to create gun printing is not allowed on Twitter. Thank you for bringing the account @lvanTheTroll12 to our attention. Upon closer review prompted by your outreach, we identified that the account is in violation of our policy on evading an account suspension. Our policies do not allow individuals to use the service when they were previously suspended for abusive behavior or evading a previous suspension. We have removed this account from Twitter. Furthermore, we welcome additional reports from law enforcement and government when they find this type of activity online. This is an emerging issue and we welcome the opportunity to work with you and other Members of Congress to discuss the ways in which we can work together to curb illegal activity that poses a risk to people both on and off the platform. Sincerely, Carlos Monje, Jr. Director of Public Policy Philanthropy, United States Canada
