COUNTY OF MINNEHAHA SECOND JUDICIAL CIRCUIT STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA Plaintiff, vs. AFFIDAVIT IN SUPPORT OF George Lee Rmzy Jr. APPLICATION FOR DOB: 1/28/1975 ARREST WARRANT 101 Indiana Ave Sioux Falls, SD Ste Defendant, 1, Tyler Heine, being ?rst duly sworn on oath, depose and state that I am a Special Agent with the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and that I am one of the agents in charge of the investigation of the above-styled matter. That your Af?ant makes this Af?davit in support of the State?s Attorney?s request for a warrant for the arrest of the above-named Defendant(s), and in compliance with SDCL and states as follows: The following information was collected from several law enforcement of?cers during this on- going investigation and put together into this one document. The information is not completely inclusive but, covers the pertinent information known at the time of this request. On Tuesday, May 21"t 2019, at approximately 3:00 pm, a male individual identi?ed as George Lee Rinzy Jr. arrived at the Minnehaha County Jail in Sioux Falls. George Rinzy Jr. began causing a disturbance in the main lobby. During the disturbance, George Rinzy Jr. was hanging a glass liquor bottle against the front entrance of the jail. Minnehaha County Deputies and Correction Of?cers were dispatched to the south jail main entrance area to make contact with George Rinzy Jr. Minnehaha County Correction Of?cer Matt Larson was positioned near the front lobby door in an attempt to prevent George Rinzy Jr. from entering the jail facility. George Rinzy Jr. began striking the glass front door of the jail lobby with numerous rocks causing the glass door to shatter. Correction Of?cer Matt Larson sustained minor cuts from the broken glass. George Rinzy Jr. walked away from the front lobby door and into the main jail parking lot. George Rinzy Jr. was confronted by several unarmed Correction Of?cers and Minnehaha County Deputies assigned to courthouse security. George Rinzy Jr. threw a glassliquor bottle in the direction of a responding Minnehaha County Deputy Craig Olson. George Rinzy Jr. then armed himself with two (2) knives that he had in his possession. George Rinzy Jr. was armed with a knife in his left hand, and a knife in his right hand. George Rinzy Jr. began running towards Correction Of?cer Orlando Nelson and Correction Of?cer Kurt Schaunaman while wielding the knives. CO Nelson and CO Schaunaman retreated due the immediate threat of attack and an unsafe cross?re situation with law enforcement of?cers on scene. Responding of?cers began ordering George Rinzy Jr. to drop the weapons. George Rinzy Jr. refused to comply with the of?cer?s orders and charged towards Minnehaha County Deputy Sheriff Craig Olson. While running towards Deputy Olson, George Rinzy Jr. raised his arms in the air with the knives in his hands in a ?ghting manner. George Rinzy Jr. ran within several feet of Deputy Olson who was armed with his duty handgun. Deputy Olson ?red two (2) rounds from his duty handgun at George Rinzy Jr. One (1) of the ?red round struck George Rinzy Jr. in the abdomen, causing him to fall to the ground. Responding Of?cers and Deputies immediately disarmed George Rinzy Jr. and provided medical treatment until paramedics arrived. George Rinzy Jr. was transported to a local hospital and treated for the single gunshot wound to his abdomen. George Rinzy Jr. survived his injuries and is currently recovering at a hospital in SiOux Falls, SD. With the evidence obtained during this investigation is believed that George Rinzy Jr. committed aggravated assault against Minnehaha County Deputy Craig Olson; aggravated assault on Correction Of?cer Orlando Nelson; simple assault on Correctional Of?cer Matt Larson; and intention damage to property on May 215?, 2019. All of the aforementioned events occurred in Minnehaha County, South Dakota. Intentional Damage Public Property, by intentionally damaging door at MC Jail, amount more than $400 less than/equal to $1,000(Cl1 Misd.); 8. Disorderly Conduct (violent, threatening).
