METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 June 4, 2019 Arrest Made in a Homicide: 2700 Block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Southeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced an arrest has been made in reference to a homicide that that occurred on Sunday, May 26, 2019, in the 2700 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Southeast. At approximately 5:40 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, members located an unconscious adult male victim, suffering from laceration wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 44 year-old Michael Hooker, of Southeast, DC.
