STRINGER March 25, 2019 The Honorable Bill de Blasio Mayor City of New York City Hall New York, NY 10007 Re: Senior Housing Dear Mayor de Blasio: As I am sure you agree, seniors are the backbones ofour communities and deserve to live out their lives in surroundings that are both safe and digni?ed. It is for this reason that have long supported the Administration?s proposal to create fully affordable housing units for some 15,000 NYCHA seniors. We believe the creation ofthis new housing will not only allow seniors a chance to age gracefully in their communities, but also free up existing units within NYCHA to provide new homes for those on NYC wait list or those suffering through homelessness. 1n the past. City Council documents related to the adopted FY2019 budget have reflected ?$500 million for senior affordable housing targeted at four Housing Preservation and Development sites and two NYCHA sites.? This money is an essential down payment to creating new and expanded senior housing for some of our most vulnerable residents. According to news reports, in March of this year, members of the Administration said that it was ?pursuing six sites that would altogether accommodate between 525 and 855 apartments for seniors.? However, to date, little has been formally released about the nature of those sites or their status. 1 am writing today to request an update on the status of this commitment, speci?cally: - Please provide the capital budget lines and project-IDS which fund this commitment. 0 Please identify the specific sites that have been identified to date, and any others that may be or are being considered for this commitment. 0 Please indicate the status of each development site: For example, have proposals been issued for development? Have contracts been entered into? Have any Certi?cates to Proceed (CP) been issued? If so, please indicate the date, project phase, and funding amount for each CP. DAVID N. DINKINS MUNICIPAL BUILDING - CENTRE STREET, 5TH FLOOR NEW YORK, NY 10007 PHONE: (212) 669-3500 - How many units total do you anticipate developing on each site? 0 What is the anticipated development budget for each site??
