METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 June 15, 2019 Homicide: 1300 Block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, June 15, 2019, in the 1300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast. At approximately 12:01 am, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim, inside of a residence, unconscious and not breathing, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. Additionally, members located an adult female victim, inside of a residence, conscious and breathing, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The decedent has been identified as 37 year-old Richfield Chang, of Southeast, DC. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
