Judge Tom Walsh announced his second major policy initiative of the campaign, the "Public Integrity Task Force" will become a specialized prosecution unit and will focus on prosecuting criminal activity by elected officials, public servants, and employees at all levels of government. "As Rockland County’s next District Attorney, I pledge the formation of a Public Integrity Task Force in order to ensure that we hold those in positions of authority to the highest of ethical standards in our County," said Judge Tom Walsh. "We must rebuild the public's trust and confidence in those who are bestowed the honor of serving their community." The unit will be comprised of investigators from the local municipalities as well as, State and Federal law enforcement officials. Tom’s Public Integrity Task Force investigations will include but not limited to:  Fraud and illegal activity by elected officials;  Abuse of authority;  Bribery, threats and transgressions associated with elections/political campaigns/designating petitions;  Malfeasance in the public procurement of government contracts, services and works;  Criminal violations by elected officials and government employees of ethic laws; and  Accusations against anyone who attempt to subvert the integrity of public servants; The Public Integrity Task Force will:  Afford protection to governmental whistleblowers and citizens who come forward to report illegal behavior;  Streamline the reporting process to help expedite time sensitive investigations;  Implement a new website and expound on the anonymous “Tip 411” currently operated by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office;  Bring back the trust of our citizens by targeting those who betray the public’s trust and our citizens will be assured that corruption at all levels of government will be unacceptable under Tom’s leadership.
