To Stonington Community,

In recent articles published by The Day, issues were raised with respect to a Stonington High School
teacher.

Our top priority is always student safety. Stonington High School administration adheres to this
priority. Students have the right to attend school and not be subject to inappropriate behavior. We
encourage students and parents to share concerns with our administrative and counseling staff. We
also have a legal obligation to employees to provide due process relative to any complaint.

I want our students and parents to know that we take every concern/complaint seriously and follow
through on every one. I would like to share more details with students and parents about these issues
but cannot due to legal constraints related to employee personnel issues.

Our administrators, as they do with any complaint brought forth by a student, followed strict
guidelines and procedures related to the issues about the teacher in question. They investigated every
concern and acted appropriately based on the results of the investigation. I have revieified the
procedures in detail with the administration and I am certain they followed proper protocols within
the con?nes of the law. We have provided all the information we can relative to this issue.

The ?nal result is the teacher resigned and is no longer employed by the Stonington Public Schools.
