Subiect: Professional Facial Examination Task and Results

Bac round: attorneys at Alston 
Bird contacted Ideal Innovations, Inc (I3) to assess an image from a publication for comparison quality.

Task: Facial identification examiners assess an image of interest for comparison quality. If the image
was determined to have adequate quality, Alston Bird attorneys provided multiple images to compare
to the publication image.

Images: The image below on the left is the scanned image from the publication. The person on the left is
the image of interest and what the facial identi?cation examiners at I5 assessed for comparison quality.

     
 

Results: As is standard in the comparative forensics fields, two facial identification examiners
independently assessed the image quality. They determined that this image is not of quality for a
comparison to be conducted. Circumstances include (but are not limited to):

0 Poor image capture at the time the photo was taken

I Poor reproduction of image in the document in question

0 Poor contrast and lighting in the photograph contributing to the inability to properly cite and
identify facial features necessary to conduct any analysis

- ?dot matrix? distortion typical of publications of photos from the time period (shown above)
