Kevin Daniel: I looked this over tonight, and I think this accurately captures both the specific commitments that UPMC and its partners are making. as well as placing the hospital project in the context oi the "anchuf' for a new innovation district or corridor that will run through the Hill District. In tact, read together like this I thought it was very impacttul -- both visionary, and concrete. I'm sure that we could keep playing with the language and making some incremental improvements. but I doubt there will be anything substantially better than this. Meanwhile, I will touch base with the Pitt team and Sean tomorrow momlng to make sure I'm not missing something that might strengthen the argument. it there is, I'll shoot you over a note right after 9 or 9:30 - otherwise you should oonsider this our best effort at this point. Thanks for sharing, and good luck with building the support. As always, it I can help you at any point, you only have to ask. Just text. email or call me. Sent from my iPhone On Jul 26, 2018. at 6:58 PM, Levelle, Daniel --wrole: Chancellor Gallagher, Attached is the copy of the "community benefits agreement" language tor Ihe UPMC Mercy campus development. This document first and foremost addresses my concerns that this development assist in addressing the economic and social needs of an adjacent impoverished and undeserved community. The actual language is the result of both mine and UPMC's words, with the additional input of Sean Luther and Greg Spencer. I also believes everything proposed ls lair and reasonable. Both Sean and Greg have seen the final version. I wanted to send it to you as well tor your input, prior to to sending it to UPMC and my colleagues. I did articulate this to Tom McGough, so he is aware. Thank you again tur your assistance. Daniel R. Daniel Lavelle Councilmen. District 6 City of Pittsburgh
