Dear Dr. Rainbolt and Mr. Harroz:
As you are aware, The University of Oklahoma (“OU”) disclosed that it reported incorrect alumni giving
data for several years to U.S. News & World Report. OU also disclosed to U.S. News that, for many years,
its Health Sciences Center’s data was incorrectly included with the OU data reported to U.S. News for
our Best Colleges rankings. In order for U.S. News to permit OU to participate in our forthcoming Best
Colleges survey, U.S. News will require certification for the next three years that the data reported to
U.S. News for OU is solely for OU-Norman and that all data for OU-Norman has been reported
accurately on our three Best Colleges surveys: Main, Financial Aid and Finance surveys.
Therefore, U.S. News asks that for each of the next three years OU provide U.S. News with a letter
certifying the accuracy of the submissions referenced at the end of this letter. Each letter should bear
the signature of the Chairman of the Board of Regents and the President, verifying the accuracy of all
information submitted to U.S. News. For the 2020 Best Colleges rankings to be published in September
2019, U.S. News asks that the letter be submitted by July 20, 2019.
