July 11, 2019 Dear parents and guardians, It is with mixed emotions that I announce my retirement from the superintendency of the Queensbury Union Free School District effective January 31, 2020. While I would like to continue my work with parents, faculty, staff, students and the Queensbury community for many more years, time has a way of creating different chapters in our lives and it is time for me to start a new one. My retirement date will allow sufficient time for the Board of Education to conduct a thorough superintendent search, ensuring a smooth transition in leadership. In the meantime, I remain fully committed to our continued efforts to create the very finest learning opportunities for all Queensbury students. I have felt honored and privileged to be part of this incredibly outstanding school district. Each and every day at Queensbury, I continue to feel great excitement and energy from the opportunity of working with our entire education community and the Board of Education in our ongoing efforts to create the very finest public schools possible. My greatest rewards have come from the result of witnessing the highly valued, important and essential work that shapes bright and rewarding futures for Queensbury children and young adults. I look forward to seeing our students return to school in September for another productive and rewarding school year. The very best to you and your family and enjoy your summer. Sincerely, Doug Huntley
