METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 July 15, 2019 Arrest Made in a Homicide: 1800 Block of Q Street, Southeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in reference to a homicide that occurred on Sunday, March 17, 2019 in the 1800 Block of Q Street, Southeast. At approximately 5:21 am, officers responded to the listed location for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim, inside of a residence, who was unconscious and unresponsive. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The decedent has been identified as 37-year-old Ahmad Simms, of Southeast, DC.
