Are you applying for U.S. citizenship and need help traveling to Portland for your interview or oath ceremony? Starting July 1, 2019, USCIS has informed some Seattle area naturalization applicants that they must travel all the way to the Portland field office in Oregon for interviews and oath ceremonies. If you have difficulty traveling the far distance from Seattle to Portland and back, the below information may be helpful. NOTE: You may need use a taxi or rideshare service from the station/terminal to the USCIS field office. We recommend calling a Portland cab company before leaving Seattle to ensure they can pick you up and drop you off to your appointment in time. NOTE: You may need to stay in Portland overnight. If this is the case, we recommend reserving accommodations before leaving Seattle to ensure you have a place to stay. Several hotels can be found within a half mile from the USCIS field office and range from $60 to $340 a night. Two examples are below: 1. A Residence Inn by Marriot (1150 NW 9th Ave, Portland, OR 97209) is located 5 blocks from the USCIS field office. We have found rates at $269 a night. 2. A Quality Inn (431 NE Multnomah St, Portland, OR 97232) is located 1.5 miles from the field office. We have found rates at $121 per night. USCIS is NOT accepting requests to change the location of your interview. If you cannot attend your interview date, please follow the instructions on your appointment notice to reschedule but note that your interview will be scheduled again at the same Portland field office and not for Seattle.
