Telehealth Pilot OPSB stahC is working with Children?s Hospital to provide pediatric services For students with mild conditions pink eye) through video conferencing technology. Telehealth services can help students miss less class time, as a result of not having to leave school to see their pediatrician. PUBLIC SCHOOLS Highlights 2019 OPSB Summer Training Collaborative The departments of Exceptional Children's Services and Student Support Attendance have partnered to offer Orleans Parish Schools the 2019 Summer Training Collaborative. The targeted audience For this training includes: Social Workers, Special Education Static, Counselors, Attendance Static, Dean of Students/Culture, Disciplinarians, Principals/School Leaders, Asst. Principals. The two-day collaborative consists of training sessions and keynotes that encourage dialogue about the unique challenges that our students Face and how schools can best offer support and coordination to help all students succeed. lA PUBLIC SCHOOLS Highlights 2019 Attendance Awareness Campaign In partnership with Baptist Community Ministries OPSB will be expanding its Attendance Awareness Campaign launch For the 2019-20 SY. BCM awarded OPSB $65,129 to support the campaign, which will Focus on increasing awareness of three targeted groups: students and parents, schools and the community at large. The campaign will be visible via RTA bus ads and billboards throughout the city. We will be partaking in various community events (back to school events, partnering with NORDC, and community groups) to spread the word about the importance of daily school attendance. lA PUBLIC SCHOOLS Accountability Updates 8: Notices of Non-Compliance PUBLIC SCHOOLS New Beginnings School Foundation Update On July 3, 2019, the OPSB issued written notification regarding outstanding submission items due to OPSB, per the Notice of Non-Compliance, Level 2, issued on June 7th and the Follow-up correspondence issued on June 25th. OPSB staFF continue to be present daily at John F. Kennedy to oversee summer school activities, communications with Families and planning For ongoing student support. In High School, the percent of students achieving Mastery or above on the LEAP 2025 exams in English,Algebra, Geometry, and US History varied by subject. Overall, the system also saw a decline in the number of students scoring Basic or above on LEAP assessments as well. This is the Fourth year of stagnant or declining test results. Over the past several years, the city?s schools have performed well on the state Progress lndex measure. That measure assesses how well schools are helping each student grow towards mastery. Those results will be released by the Louisiana Department of Education later this summer.
