METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 July 23, 2019 Homicide: 1300 Block of Saratoga Avenue, Northeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Monday, July 22, 2019, in the 1300 Block of Saratoga Avenue, Northeast. At approximately 6:38 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the sounds of gunshots. While canvasing the scene, members were advised that an adult male arrived at an area hospital, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 32 year-old Curtis Lowell Franklin, of Northeast, DC. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
