Dear Jarvis,

I volunteered to serve on the Sexual Assault Survivors? Task Force because of the extensive work I have
done during my time in office on the issues surrounding the prosecution of adult sexual assault cases.

I have studied the national literature, assisted in organizing a local lnteragency Sexual Assault Team,
devoted additional resources in this Office to create a Sexual Assault Unit that includes an Intimate
Partner Sexual Assault prosecutor, supported Senator Kirk Watson?s legislative effort to address sexual
assault issues, and called a Roundtable of experienced sexual assault prosecutors from across the State in
an effort to discuss their most successful practices, commonly encountered difficulties, and resource
limitations. I knew that my two years of intense work in this area would give the Task Force great
assistance in the formulation of meaningful recommendations to State policy makers. I wanted to share
the experiences of prosecutors in the enforcement of sexual assault laws and the support of the victims.
Our knowledge is critical to the success of this Task Force.

genuinely care about this endeavor. also recognize that my anticipated participation has caused too
much attention to be paid to my appointment and not enough attention to the work that needs to get
done. cannot let my presence undermine the effort. Therefore, I must ask you to withdraw my name
from participation as your designee on the Governor?s Sexual Assault Survivors Task Force. I assure you
that I am still going to be working with my local people and prosecutors across the State, to see how we
can improve the system and what it will take to make those improvements. If I can help you and your
future designee, you know you can call on me.
