METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 July 31, 2019 Homicide: 1300 Block of Savannah Street, Southeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, in the 1300 block of Savannah Street, Southeast. At approximately 10:23 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the 1300 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast, for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Members canvased the area and located an adult male victim in the 1300 block of Savannah Street, Southeast, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The decedent has been identified as 26 year-old Anthony Hooks, of Southeast, DC. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
