My last day will be May 31,2013. i am resigning due to the following reasons: i am consistently asked to manage a unll ot up to t2 acute patients with one teoh or LPN. Some olwhioh are on every five minute checks tor suicide precautions. Exlm start is not provided tor increased monitoring on Meet. The tech or second statt member is ott the tloor tor a total at thee hours a day tor meals and smoke breaks which leaves me alone with several patieiits some ot whom can be threatening or violent. This threatens my nursing license and safety. have informed you and other members ot leadership, Ryan. Gena, corporate as well on occasions of my concerns with absolutely no solutions. have been told to blame my coworkers tor calling in sick when my unit is let short staffed. This has created an atmosphere oi blame and resentment among some stall. do not ieel sate working here since there is not enough stair, am concerned about my nursing license as am consistently asked to tunerion as two people. There has been the promise ot more staff but this has not benefited me at all. stati are scheduled tor my unit but they are consistently pulled to statt other short slatted units. understood that there would be some risks associated with working in an acute hospital but stair are told to call tor help (code) it we cannot manage by ourselves or we are told to pull start trom other units As other units are short started this is not really a viable option. simply do not have the resources to run this unit sater tor patents and stall. And now I am being asked to work overtime. I know you have offeled to |et me schedule for 1West. but in leaking at that and needing an RN on the unil dally. mere is no way tor me to avoid overtime so I can take care of personal things and re tor my son. have expressed on multiple occasions that i cannot do ovenime and that has been ignored, Also. heoause we do not have assigned work emails. that leaves my personal email and cell phone tor slatt communication which occurs on time ott ouite otten, this is unpaid time tor which there is no compensation.
