Box 173350 Denver, CO 80217-3350 fd To: All MVIU From: Francine Gonzales Subject: FRS Exhibits During the staff meeting on 10/25/2016 we discussed the recent Facial Recognition Working group topics, held by AAMVA. Many States discussed best practices in regards to the use of FRS technology. Most States indicated that they do not include the FRS matches in their cases. As more States are implementing FRS within their programs there is a higher risk for scrutiny as shown in recent articles from the East coast. Other best practices mentioned were; 1) Do not give the LEO an entire list of matches; each agency should filter those down to the highest probable. 2) Do not mention FRS in any reports 3) Increase perimeters for use of the technology Effective immediately the FRS side by side matches will not be included in any reports as exhibits. We also discussed procedures with MIDS which are still in draft form and will be finalized by next week.
