

The following data analysis is focused on schools that have had:


No post-Katrina investment



Refurbishment investment of less than $5 million



Due to extensive construction already completed, new schools
and renovated schools are NOT included in the following data.



The purpose of this presentation is to share data about these
campuses, not to imply that no additional work is needed on
those facilities.

25 sites that were refurbished or had no project were evaluated.
Each of the 25 sites has unmet needs for additional:
 Visual Arts Space
 Performing Arts Space
 Computer/Flex Space
 Physical Education Space
5 of the sites have sufficient site size to add all of the spaces that would be
needed.
20 of the sites have deficiencies that
 Could not be accommodated through building an addition because the site
is too small, OR
 Might accommodate a small addition.



The Facility Condition Index (FCI) formula is:

Cost to Repair/Cost to Replace = FCI %


Examples:

Cost to Repair = $8,000,000
Cost to Replace = $10,000,000
$8,000,000/$10,000,000 = 80%
Cost to Repair = $2,000,000
Cost to Replace = $10,000,000
$2,000,000/$10,000,000 = 20%
