As requested, I have instructed the Sound Transit Division of the Sheriff’s Office to no longer forward
completed Fare Evasion related Theft 3rd Degree cases to the Prosecutor’s Office for the
consideration of the filing of charges.  This is as of May 7.  Instead, they will forward those
completed cases to Sound Transit, once they have addressed their concerns surrounding the release
of some of the contents (criminal history of the defendant, etc.).  They will formalize their procedure
of getting the cases to ST by June 1.  My expectation is that Public Safety will accept them, log the
intake and then deliver them to Legal.
