Consistent efforts to assassinate my character by digging up decade old social media posts are simply
ridiculous and outrageous. To characterize this tweet as anything other than a silly comment about horror
films is senseless.
As someone who receives death threats weekly, I am fully versed in what they sound like. To even begin
to equate this as such disregards the intelligence of voters, the seriousness of the issues that face
Memphians, and the urgency of what my campaign stands for.
In the past 10 years, I have advocated alongside and for women, children, and people of all backgrounds
to have equitable opportunities as an education ally, organizer, activist, elected official, and Mayoral
candidate. Despite baseless attacks, our work and movement will continue. We will not be deterred by
those who try to trivialize my commitment, or gloss over our city’s current realities with frivolous
attempts to shift focus away from what matters.
