METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 September 22, 2019 Homicide: 200 Block of 51st Street, Northeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday, September 22, 2019, in the 200 block of 51st Street, Northeast. At approximately 12:58 am, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 21 year-old Rashid Ferguson, of Northwest, DC. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
