METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 October 11, 2019 Suspect Sought in a Homicide: 1200 Block of I Street, Southeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in reference to a fatal shooting that occurred in the 1200 block of I Street, Southeast, on Thursday, October 10, 2019. At approximately 12:42 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. After all lifesaving efforts failed the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 36 year-old Marcus Williams, of Southeast, DC. The suspect was captured by a nearby surveillance camera and can be seen in this video link: https://youtu.be/avnRjvOiYzg The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000, per victim, to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
