METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 October 22, 2019 Traffic Fatality: 6200 Block of Eastern Avenue, Northeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic fatality resulting from a crash that occurred on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, in the 6200 block of Eastern Avenue, Northeast. At approximately 5:05 am, a Toyota 4-Runner was traveling west on Chillum Road, Northeast, at the intersection of Eastern Avenue, Northeast. An Infinity I30 was traveling northbound on Eastern Avenue, Northeast, when the two vehicles collided. The impact caused the Infinity to redirect across opposing traffic on Eastern Avenue and strike a light pole. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported one of the passengers of the Infinity I30 to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The other passenger of the Infinity I30 was transported to an area hospital and was admitted in critical condition. The driver of the Infinity I30 was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the Toyota 4-Runner were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The decedent has been identified as a 17 year-old Jerome Clark Jr., of Northeast, DC.
