METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 October 24, 2019 Arrest Made in a Homicide: 1700 Block of Hamlin Street, Northeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce an arrest has been made in reference to a homicide that occurred on Thursday, February 14, 2019, in the 1700 block of Hamlin Street, Northeast. At approximately 5:51 am, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims, inside of an establishment, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported both victims to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, one of the victims was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 32-year-old David Anthony Remen, of La Crosse, WI.
