METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 October 24, 2019 Suspect Wanted in a Homicide: 900 Block of 21st Street, Northeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Thursday, October 24, 2019, in the 900 block of 21st Street, Northeast. At approximately 5:12 am, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious adult male inside of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 32 year-old Alie Labay of New Carrollton, MD. The suspect in this case has been identified as 30 year-old Gregory Antwan Washington. Washington is described as 5’9” tall and weighs approximately 150 lbs. He is currently wanted on a DC Superior Court arrest warrant for First Degree Murder While Armed. He can be seen in the photo below: The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
