Cleveland Rising Summit   October 30, 2019
1. HOW MIGHT WE? Set bolder, better and braver economic growth goals and get
behind initiatives that serve to create inclusive equity and provides living-wages
supporting high-quality neighborhood and family life?
2. HOW MIGHT WE? Make and propel Cleveland as a national treasure in the area of
minority-owned business & entrepreneurship?
3. HOW MIGHT WE? Create a strong and supported entrepreneurial ecosystem that
effectively mobilizes tri-sector investment?
4. HOW MIGHT WE? Become the healthiest city in the USA-- A true model of ending
disparities and creating inclusion and equity in the domain of health.
5. HOW MIGHT WE? Prototype, draft and engage our community in propelling “The
Cleveland Declaration” of interdependence?
6. HOW MIGHT WE? Build a Tri-Sectoral win-win competency into the heart of
Cleveland’s culture and set in motion the Tri-sectoral tools that will map and leverage
our resources in more data-based, collaborative, and effective ways?
7. HOW MIGHT WE? Design and enable ways for real racial healing and reconciliation
– resulting in more economic growth, equity, and opportunity?
8. HOW MIGHT WE? Propel the “green city on a blue lake” for economic innovation
opportunity, clean energy, sustainable value, and equitable quality of life for everyone
in Cleveland?
9. HOW MIGHT WE? Propel safe and high trust neighborhoods from “back porch to front
porch” and in ways that enable growth, equity, and builds strong community? E.g. no
food deserts, equitable access to IT and transportation.
10. HOW MIGHT WE? Modernize and expand our transportation system for access,
ease and empowerment to both meet the needs of all our residents, and attract people
across the globe to our city?
11. HOW MIGHT WE? Grow Cleveland’s population? How might we design initiatives for
attracting young people and create opportunities for refugees and immigrants, returning
citizens, college grads, elderly/aging, and people of color?
12. HOW MIGHT WE? Create a vibrant and accessible lakefront for all – for economics
growth, equity and opportunity?
13. HOW MIGHT WE? Prototype and design a 21st century system-wide Cleveland
planning methodology—for ongoing use-- that advances, trust, equity and models an
inclusive process for this, the collaborative age?

 14. HOW MIGHT WE? Mobilize “digital connectivity” for inclusive access to the internet for
all Clevelanders and for elevating the social visibility and vital strengths of each of our
local businesses—helping to advance “community commerce” in the service of equity
and local business success?
15. HOW MIGHT WE? Build an education system for early childhood that meets kids
where they are and prepares them for the futures they hope to have? “Holistic”
“wraparound services”…etc.
16. HOW MIGHT WE? Build and invest in our homegrown, skilled, and sustainable
workforce that matches the needs of today’s jobs and attracts new employers in the
future?
17. HOW MIGHT WE? Create an equitable tech-smart community and propel advances
in technology based economic development?

18. HOW MIGHT WE? Strengthen the K-12 education system to create equity and
opportunity for advancement of our next generation workforce? E.g., Full human
development platform with both traditional focus on academic achievement and career
prep + preparing people with the life skills for well-being and full human development.

19. HOW MIGHT WE? Broaden this kind of Summit engagement and leverage large group
methods throughout the community after today? e.g., Summits across neighborhoods;
youth summits; ever widening circle of inclusive engagement;
20. HOW MIGHT WE? Better focus current tri-sector spending and unleash and create a
powerful set of funding mechanisms to propel Cleveland Rising and its initiatives
and outreach over the next decade?
21. HOW MIGHT WE? Speed up the spread of every “progress moment” and every
achievement including spreading stories of change and measurable impacts in
Cleveland Rising to help momentum and community learning grow as we move into the
future?
